The porthole is a single 3.5mm round moissanite (about 0.16ct DEW) in a smooth bezel, larger than the rest so it catches the eye first. Around it, the body and fins are paved in 1.0mm, 1.1mm and 1.25mm stones that follow the curves to the tip of the tail. A hinged bail with a jump ring lets the pendant hang straight. Every stone is D colour and VVS clarity, set in 925 sterling silver plated in 18K white gold (rhodium-bright) or 18K yellow gold. Moissanite has a refractive index of 2.65 versus a diamond's 2.42, so it returns more fire, and at 9.25 on the Mohs scale it is hard enough for everyday wear.
