The body is built in two domed sections, head and abdomen, each fully paved so the stones wrap the curve rather than sitting flat. Eight slim legs reach out to the sides, every one lined with a single row of tiny stones, so the outline still sparkles when the pendant turns. Three stone sizes are used – fifty-six 1.0mm, twenty-five 1.1mm and twenty-seven 1.4mm – with the larger stones on the body for depth. A hinged bail sits above a small jump ring, wide enough for a rope chain or a slim Cuban link. Every stone is D colour and VVS clarity, prong-set in 925 sterling silver plated in 18K white gold (rhodium-bright) or 18K yellow gold. Moissanite has a refractive index of 2.65 versus a diamond's 2.42, so it returns more fire, and at 9.25 on the Mohs scale it is hard enough for everyday wear. Styling note: the spider is an iced piece that still reads clean, because the legs are open metal with single-row stones rather than solid pavé.
